Midland welcomes live historical theatre

A live theatre performance marking the anniversary of an important event in Australian naval history will take place in Midland later this year.

The creative team responsible for the successful production “AB Facey's A Fortunate Life”, which saw live theatre performed in a cinema setting, is launching another title in its “Great Stories, Well Told” series. An upcoming date will see Midland added to the tour with a performance of “Sydney II: Lost and Found” at a local venue.

Cinemas and theatres can rely on poster printing services to display attractive one-sheets in their foyers showcasing new live performances coming to the stage.

The production from THEATRE 180 has been designed to mark the 80th anniversary of the HMAS Sydney II sinking off of Geraldton’s coast when it was hit by a German Raider in disguise back in 1941. Using the loss of the ship and her crew of 645 as a starting point, the play weaves loss, love and hope in a story spanning six decades.

In 2008, the wreck of the HMAS Sydney was discovered due to the tireless efforts of the Finding Sydney Foundation, the central goal of the key characters in the story.

Sydney II: Lost and Found will be performed from Friday, October 29 until Wednesday, November 3 between 6.15 pm and 8 pm at Ace Cinemas at 274 Great Eastern Highway in Midland.
