An experienced artist will soon present a learning experience at a Midland community hub.
Those looking for a hands-on opportunity to get arty in Midland won’t want to miss an upcoming opportunity presented by the City of Swan Libraries. The workshop will take place at the Old Midland Courthouse and provide participants with a chance for attendees to create a uniquely altered book.
“Altered Books” are a mixed media artwork involving modifying a book into a new form from its original state, through changing its meaning and appearance. Altered book artists take old or new books and modify them through folding, cutting, tearing, embedding, or adding drawings and other media.
Altered books can be displayed and sold online, or in physical art galleries. Artists working with different media often count on professional printing services to create high-quality reproductions of their work for sale or promotion.
The Midland workshop is led by Vivian Paans, an experienced mixed-media artist with transpersonal art therapy training. Over the two-and-a-half-hour workshop, she will display multiple techniques helping candidates gain practical experience of creating unique artworks.
The altered books workshop will be held at the Old Midland Courthouse on Wednesday 8 November, and is suitable for those aged 18 and over. The courthouse is situated at 49 Helena Street in Midland, and the workshop will run from 4 pm to 6.30 pm.Get a Free Quote for Books
