The news, released recently by the state government, acknowledges nearby Midland’s long railway history, which spans almost a century and has been preserved in the special precinct dedicated to the town’s historic railway workshops. When planning new developments such as this, graphic design is often used to create a design to present to the local authorities.
According to City of Swan Mayor, David Lucas, the proposal to establish a manufacturing facility just a few minutes away from the precinct paid tribute to the area’s extensive history in rail. He said it would also see rail production return to Midland, an activity that played a vital role in the maintenance and development of Western Australia’s rail system during the past 100 years, adding:
“Now we are seeing the beginning of a new era for the industry, with the promise of a purpose built facility just one kilometre away from the historic workshops precinct. It is exciting to see such a significant investment in our local community and a new connection to one of the biggest infrastructure projects in Western Australian history.”
The Mayor said the facility, together with the new train station at Midland and the Bellevue extension, will further develop and enhance Midland’s growth. He said the local community would also benefit from the creation of new jobs.
