Building knowledge about strategic planning and running a business will be the topic of discussion as part of a series of free workshops to be held in Ellenbrook and Midland during the course of 2016.
Community groups and local volunteers have been invited to attend in conjunction with the City of Swan’s annual free community training programme.
Mayor Mick Wainwright said the sessions will help participants plan and prepare for the future.
The training sessions are open to the City’s residents, volunteers and not-for-profit groups, and all are urged to bring along note pads to jot down some of the important information raised throughout the 10 workshop discussions.
According to Councillor Cate McCullough, there have been several changes to the 2016 programme, including the introduction of online bookings. This, she said, would simplify the registration process for taking part in the workshops.
She said in the past all training sessions had been based in Midland, but this year’s workshops would alternate between Ellenbrook Library and the Old Midland Courthouse.
Topics to be covered include marketing services and social media, business and strategic planning, incorporation and committee roles, grant writing, events management, first aid, meetings and minute taking, and project planning.
Cr. McCullough said bookings were essential for each workshop, with sessions scheduled for February 24, March 23, April 27, May 25, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 28, October 26, and November 23.
