The grants, of $5000 to $25,000 in value, are part of the Proactive Community Grants $50,000 pool. They are being offered for the fifth consecutive year to support initiatives and projects that compare well with areas of city focus, such as the sustainable environment, community safety, homelessness, wellbeing and health.
Since its establishment, the programme has awarded $190,000 to groups within the community and has had a positive effect in many areas, according to City Mayor Kevin Bailey, who added:
"The City’s Proactive Community Grants program is about giving not-for-profit groups a boost to deliver projects that make a real difference to the community.”
He said the latest round of grants had also seen an addition to the focus area, with the introduction of homelessness and associated initiatives to help the area's most vulnerable.
Funding support through programmes such as this has also helped community groups cover the cost of printing Letterheads and other key marketing items.
Eligible organisations will have until November 6 to submit an Expression of Interest in the Grants programme, which is made available through the Swan Community Funding Scheme. The ultimate aim of the scheme is to build and foster sustainable communities, while also enhancing their development and social wellbeing.
