Keen photographers from Midland and around the Swan Valley are being encouraged to enter this year’s City of Swan photography competition.
Printing services will be used to create a special calendar for 2016 featuring the winning entries, with the top image being chosen as the calendar’s cover. The council may also use the images in other promotional material throughout the year.
Up to 50 finalists will be chosen and their work will be displayed in an exhibition later in the year. The winner will receive $4,000, while each of the 11 runners up will get $250.
This year’s theme is Joy in Swan, and images will be judged on how well they convey this meaning, as well as on composition and technical skills. Judges include professional photographers David Brittain and James Simmons, both of whom are based in Perth and have won numerous awards during their careers
The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers, but images must have been taken within the City of Swan boundary within the last two years. Any style of image will be considered, including landscapes and portraits of people and entrants can submit up to three pictures.
For more information and entry Forms, see the City of Swan council website. Entries close on Tuesday, September 1st. The winners will be announced at a special event in December.Get a Free Quote for Forms
