A landmark building in Midland is hosting a club for card players this winter.
Bridge players in Midland can attend some friendly games taking place in the city in June. The Midland Public Library’s dedicated bridge club is inviting players in the area to join its members at the Old Midland Courthouse. Presented by the City of Swan, the upcoming event is open to player of all abilities.
Newcomers and beginners alike can compete with veteran players from the Swan Districts Bridge Club at the free event, and both tuition and equipment are provided. Local clubs sometimes use Letterheads featuring their emblem when communicating with members about upcoming events.
Bridge (or contract bridge) is a trick-taking game that used a standard deck with 52 playing cards. In its standard format, it’s played with two competing partnerships (four players in total). During play, partners sit opposite from each other at the table. One of the most popular card games in the world today, millions play Bridge in clubs, at home with friends and at official tournaments.
The Bridge Club will take place at the Old Midland Courthouse on Wednesday, June 25. The session starts at 1 pm and ends at 3 pm and the courthouse is at 49 Helena Street in Midland. No bookings are necessary, but players must be aged 18 or over to participate.
