Residents of Bibra Lake and beyond can enjoy an informative daytime session where experts and those with passion talk about community and gardens, growing food, sustainability and volunteering, organised by Community Gardens Australia.
Since 1996, Community Gardens Australia has been the organisation that connects gardeners, gardeners, gardening supporters and community garden spaces, all over the country.
Community Gardens Australia, together with Permaculture Australia and Grow It Local, will organise the day, to will include presentations and a panel discussion. Josh Byrne, from ABC’s Gardening Australia, will also be present at lunch to talk about community action and sustainability.
The presenters include Mel Logozzo, who will speak about growing local, Bronwyn Chompff-Gliddon who will talk about financial viability and Peg Davies who has a passion for reducing waste and re-useability.
Participants will come away armed with knowledge on how to make a gardening space more sustainable, along with how to build and engage with valuable community support.
Events that are information-led might often generate leaflets that could be sourced at local Print shops.
The Annual WA Community Growing Conference takes place on Saturday 15th August, from 10am until 3pm. The venue is The Wetlands Centre, 184 Hope Road, Bibra Lake. Tickets cost from $40, to include lunch. Sponsors include PiP Magazine and WaterUps.
