Learn to propagate in Bibra Lake

Residents in and around Bibra Lake can join a workshop where experts will show them how to propagate native species.

The Conservation Nursey experts will be on hand show attendees how to use locally sourced materials to propagate and nurture native plants from Western Australian.

The facilitators include Hazel Dempster, a native plants expert who is an Honorary Life Member of the Wildflower Society of western Australia and also advises local government on strategies for planning and sustainability. Accompanying Dempster is Lanie Cottam, who has a broad knowledge of conservation land management and horticulture.

The session will cover an introduction to the seasons and the essential aspect of native plants, an informative walk on the wetlands, with an opportunity to buy plants.

Dempster has said:

“This workshop is truly unique. I’ll be delving into plant families, which will let yu accurately identify which family a certain species of plant comes from. Knowing that, you can apply the propagation techniques you learn here to any plant, and you will see success with it.”

Plant nurseries may often be adorned with labels and informational Flyers that can be produced by using local printing services.
The Native Plant Propagation Masterclass is taking place at the Education Room, Wetlands Centre Cockburn, 184 Hope Road, Bibra Lake, on Friday 21st August, from 9.30am until 12.30pm. A ticket costs $90, which includes morning tea. All equipment is provided.
