The multi-million dollar projects include the Frankston East Tennis Club and the Jubilee Park Indoor Stadium. This latest announcement comes after months of successful lobbying to Federal and Victorian governments.
Council has also agreed to provide funds required to achieve the ultimate goal for the works, which is to boost local participation in a number of different sports, with Mayor Michael O’Reilly saying:
“Council is excited to get the ball rolling on what will be two exceptional sporting facilities for locals and the region to enjoy for years to come.”
The Jubilee Park Indoor Stadium project is extensive and involves a total redesign that will cater to multiple sports including basketball and netball. Such projects have often involved the creation of a graphic design for a clear picture of what is planned.
The Jubilee Park facility is to be expanded to feature six indoor courts that are multi-purpose with seating for 1,000 in the main show court.
Multiple sports facilities for elite training are also to be included along with function and community meeting rooms, a café that is state-of-the-art, and changing rooms that are female-friendly.
The Frankston East Tennis Club is also to receive a $4.2 million upgrade, a project that will also see its merger with the tennis club from Frankston East.
