As part of the Summer School Holidays program in Seaford, youngsters aged six to 12 can soon enjoy a hands-on and informative ocean discovery adventure.
Seaford Library is the venue for an educative and fun session by one of the marine scientists from Seaweed Sally, a provider of mobile Marine Education programs. Not far from the beach, the library is a handy setting as children have access to the ‘touch tank’ that is brought along, with treasures and specimens from the sea. The children will be encouraged to gently handle the creatures, of which include elephant snails, sea stars and sea urchins.
The session will hopefully spark wonder, leaving children curious about the marine world around them and the importance of being able to look after the ocean as a habitat for under-sea creatures and marine plants.
Some educative sessions will take advantage of local printing services in order to arrange information sheets as takeaways for the children attending.
The Southern Oceans Marine Talk with Seaweed Sally is taking place twice on 20 January, from 10.30 am until 11.30 am, and from midday until 1.30 pm at Seaford Library, 1/6R Broughton Street, Seaford. It is free to attend, but necessary to book a place. This is one in series of events at city libraries as part of the Summer School Holidays 2026 program.
