Seaford youth to gets hands-on experience with marine scientists

There is a special treat in store for the youth of Seaford at this year’s upcoming National Science Week – the region's budding marine scientists will have the unique opportunity to learn from some of Australia’s leading experts from the Dolphin Research Institute and to discover more about the exciting world of dolphins and whales.

Established in 1991, the Dolphin Research Institute is currently celebrating over 30 years of dolphin research, focused primarily in the south-eastern region of Victoria. The not-for-profit organisation is also the pioneer site for the federally funded National Dolphin Health Project. Educational and community outreach programmes such as this can benefit from brochure printing to assist in spreading vital messages to the public.

Organised by the Mornington Library, this unique Science Week event is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years old, and it will teach them about the vital role that dolphins and whales play in marine ecosystems. They will also get the opportunity to learn first-hand how to identify individual marine mammals via either their dorsal fins or tails.

This Science Week activity is scheduled to run on Saturday, August 14th from 11:30am to 12:15pm at the Mornington Library on Vancouver Street. Spaces are strictly limited, and bookings are essential. More information and links to book can be found on the Mornington Peninsula Shire Library Services website.
