Residents of Seaford will be able to hear stories about their suburb’s history at the Frankston library, thanks to the Kananook Creek Association.
Frankston Folklore, an event planned especially for Seniors Week, will no doubt appeal to younger adults as well. This collection of local tales was first gathered together to form part of an historical exhibition during the Frankston Music Festival back in April.
The Kananook Creek Association (KCA) presented an exhibition entitled ‘10 stories of Frankston’, which proved to be so popular that the theme was expanded upon, into the presentation that can be enjoyed now as part of Seniors Week. This event is an example of how something can grow out of an initial flyer printing for one event, and turn into a presentation of another.
The KCA is an organisation of Seaford residents who work to preserve the Kananook Creek Reserve, together with its natural flora and fauna. They also encourage youngsters to take part in preserving the natural habitat of their creek and its inhabitants.
The KCA’s aims, according to its website, are:
“To clean, restore and preserve the Kananook Creek and its environs.”
Frankston Folklore will take place in the Frankston Library, 60 Playne Street, on Monday, October 2, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. The event is free, but booking is essential, and can be done through Evenbrite.
