Seaford buyers luck out despite missing home auction

Buyers for a house in Seaford have successfully purchased their dream home despite missing the auction after missing a turn on the freeway.

The buyers were said to have accidentally driven past the Peninsula Link exit on the freeway during their journey to the auction. Nonetheless, they were fortunate enough to win the keys of the three-bedroom house on 3 Peter Court, Seaford via post-auction negotiations, after the property was passed in during the auction event.

According to Juan Merchan, director of Ufirst, the other potential buyer at the auction refused to increase their bid of $570,000, hence allowing the couple who were absent at the auction to buy the property for $610,000. He added that this is not the first time a sale by agency had been made in this manner, further explaining that an auction is a process, instead of just an event – negotiations can be made after the auction if the property is passed in.

Seaford is located 36km southeast of the central business district in Melbourne. According to CoreLogic, the median house price in the suburb has increased by 22% recently, up to $671,000. During the same period, Seaford’s unit median also increased by 10.3%.

Potential homebuyers who are interested in settling in Seaford can contact real estate agents in the area who will help with the entire purchasing process.
