The work will be conducted in Excelsior Drive and will include the rejuvenation of the shopping precinct to include garden beds, footpaths of exposed aggregate and trees, which, according to Ian Warren, whose wife owns the Golden Bakery, will add greatly to the area's appeal. He added:
“Attractive shrubs and evening out the footpath will definitely make the area more appealing which is great, because with what we’ve just been through with COVID, we’ve seen that shopping locally has a lot of benefits.”
The project received a $100,000 contribution from the Victorian Government, together with $200,000 from the council.
CEO of Frankston Council Phil Cantillon believes the changes will add much to the feel and look of Excelsior Drive, and thanked the Government for helping to reinvigorate the city's dining and retail areas. He said such projects also gave great support to local businesses by providing the city's shoppers with top options locally, and also helped to bring in new hospitality and retail workplaces.
Key shopping locations such as this have often been included in brochure printing campaigns that highlight local services and facilities.
An opportunity to provide feedback on the plans for the project will soon be available, while a three-month work programme to deliver the upgrade is scheduled to begin in March next year.
