Users of a Seaford motorcycling track will have to wait a little longer to find out what is happening to the facility.
Frankston City Council decided not to renew the lease held by the Frankston Motorcycle Club, after a number of safety issues arose.
However, for the next year, Motorcycling Victoria will manage the track. While the organisation usually only runs venues that are used for competitions, it has agreed a plan with the council to run the Seaford track in the short-term to allow users continued access to the recreational facility.
A Transition Committee has also been established to work out how to keep the track running safely, and to maintain it in the coming months, as well as how to manage the venue in the long term.
Poster printing or flyer printing could be used to keep users and residents abreast of the progress being made in re-opening the track.
The committee is being chaired by the deputy mayor, and includes council officials and a representative from Motorcycling Victoria. Frankston City Council is also seeking two people from the local motorcycling community to bring their expertise to the panel. Expressions of interest can be submitted through the council’s website.
The motorcycle club’s lease will end on Thursday, May 28th, after which Motorcycling Victoria should be able to take possession and reopen the basic and intermediate tracks.
