Frankston City Council is taking new steps towards assisting and encouraging more commercial activity by signing up to the Small Business Friendly council initiative introduced by the Victorian Small Business Commission. The aim of the initiative is to streamline the process of beginning and running a business for Victorians.
As part of the programme, Frankston City Council will adopt a new approach for small business such as the payment of their accounts within 30 days. They will also endeavour to speed up permit approvals for those wishing to launch a small business as well as keep disruptions due to infrastructure projects to a minimum. Printing services can also be of use to start-up companies as they can provide materials such as Business Cards and Letterheads.
Mayor Michael O’Reilly said the initiative has the potential to benefit many small businesses across the city, with registered firms in the area now totally in excess of 10,000. He added:
"We’re looking forward to working collaboratively to strengthen support for our local small businesses, which are an integral part of the Frankston City community."
Council’s decision to become part of the Small Business Friendly Council initiative was applauded by Commissioner Judy O’Connell who said that the move demonstrated that it wanted to create a supportive and fair environment for the city’s small businesses.
