The proposed $50 million transformation of the busy Frankston Transit Interchange has been earmarked for immediate action by Frankston City Council.
Business owners who hail from Frankston and Seaford, Victoria, and many other suburbs within the city – as well as key authority representatives, including local MP Paul Edbrooke – will be included in the discussion process.
Frankston Mayor Sandra Mayer said the community had been waiting a long time to see the project reach fruition, and she believed taking action now would effectively expedite the process.
She said it had been obvious people from all sections of the city wanted to see action that would directly benefit visitors, residents and travellers to the centre, and not just photographs and information prepared by brochure printers.
The first working meeting about the project for 2015 was held on January 23rd, with the main aim to edge a step closer to the council establishing a formal position on what the transformation could achieve. Additionally, the aim was to secure united and strong support for the transit interchange plans prior to their submission to the Station Precinct Taskforce arm of the state government.
The establishment of a taskforce to oversee local investment in the redevelopment was also muted in November 2014.
Further consultations within the wider community are planned prior to work beginning on the redevelopment.
