Printing Industries plans to work with Coalition

The Printing Industries Association of Australia is planning to work with the National Coalition Government to help them implement more efficient communication channels whilst reducing costs.

This initiative follows a promise by Malcolm Turnbull, the Shadow Minister for Communications and Broadband, that the Coalition Government will provide all Australians with an online account to receive Government communications, should they win office.

However the CEO of Printing Industries, Bill Healey, says the Government should look at all options before simply cutting down on printing services such as Direct Mail and leaflet printing.

“Any government needs to ensure that its communications are effective and readily and equally accessible to all. Print is still and will remain the mainstay for achieving this and has an important place along with digital technologies in multichannel communication,” Healey said.

“While there may be savings to be realised by using different Forms of electronic communications, this has to be looked at in terms of equality of access for all people, the cost to the public – particularly the growing aged population, the environmental footprint, data integrity and security issues and the possible exposure of people to potential fraudulent risk.”

This includes institutions such as banks that do not use email to communicate with customers due to spam and phishing scams that continually litter the online world.

However, Printing Industries are keen to work together with both the Coalition and Federal Government to explore ways in which they can effectively communicate with the Australian public. From Prahran to Perth, Healey believes there is still a role across for digital and Print mediums across Australia to

“work and interact together for the benefit of the community."
