What's Happening in Southbank, VIC…

Roald Dahl classic to play in Melbourne

Fans of Roald Dahl in the Melbourne Southbank area may wish to buy tickets for the ‘shake & stir’ theatre company’s stage adaption of the perennial children’s classic, Fantastic Mr Fox.

A favourite with children the world over, the animated 2009 Wes Anderson film (starring George Clooney as the voice of Mr Fox) was a great hit. Audiences rally behind Mr Fox as he outwits the stupid and mean humans in order to save his friends and family. The stage version is a clever synthesis of live action and digital animation, and has had rave reviews, including from Stage Whispers, which said:

“Jaw-droppingly brilliant…theatre making at the top level. It’s destined for a long stage life.”

Likewise, Absolute Theatre said that the show was huge amounts of fun for both children and adults.

The ‘shake & stir’ theatre company is nationally renowned as a leading modern group, with the aim of promoting:

“Live theatre as an essential and viable form of contemporary entertainment while providing young people with a positive first experience.”

Eye-catching flyer printing within the local area is seen as a good way to draw attention to theatrical experiences like this.

Fantastic Mr Fox is showing at the Playhouse Theatre, 110 St. Kilda Road, Melbourne, from 20th until 24th September, with tickets costing from $31.40. The show lasts just under one hour with no interval.
