Melbourne Southbank to stage Shakespeare

A production of a historical tragedy from Shakespeare is arriving at an arts centre in Melbourne Southbank this year.

Theatres enthusiasts in Melbourne Southbank can witness William Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” live on stage in autumn. Australian national theatre company Bell Shakespeare will present the play that depicts Rome beset by betrayal and on the brink of failure.

Well-established theatres, centres and other arts venues often order branded Letterheads for official correspondence with members, donors and other VIPs to present a professional image.

Led by Director Peter Evans and AD Jessica Tovey, the production boasts a cast of accomplished actors. This includes Septimus Caton playing Julius Caesar, Jules Billington as Portia, Ava Madon as Calpurnia, Leon Ford as Cassius, Brigid Zengeni as Brutus and Mark Leonard Winter as Mark Antony. The creative team also has lighting and costume design from Amelia Lever-Davidson and Simone Romaniuk respectively.

Bell Shakespeare specialises in presenting the works England’s most famous playwright. Established in 1990 in a Sydney circus tent by John Bell, (the celebrated actor and director), today it has expanded into a theatre company with enviable reach and impact.

Julius Caesar will now be on stage at Arts Centre Melbourne on Wednesday, April 29. Curtains open at 2 pm and close at 4.30 pm and the venue is sited at 100 St Kilda Road in Melbourne Southbank.
