Writer in musical collaboration to perform at Melbourne Southbank

Fans of Neil Gaiman in and around the Melbourne Southbank area may be pleased to hear that he will be forming a unique collaboration with a string quartet group, for one night only at Hamer Hall.

Gaiman writes for a devoted audience, and some of his work has spawned TV shows, radio plays, pieces of theatre and film. According to critics, he is often referred to as a master storyteller, and frequently writes work that defies genre conventions.

Gaiman met and joined forces with the string quartet group FourPlay years ago at the Graphic Festival, which took place at the Sydney Opera House. They have remained friends ever since, and this year, have produced an album together, entitled Signs of Life.

This production will now be performed for the first time on stage, with Melbourne and Sydney being the two chosen locations for the exclusive event. Gaiman’s compelling narration will be combined with the accompaniment of music from the self-styled indie string quartet.

As befitting a unique performance like this, first pressings of the vinyl record may be available at the venue, along with other promotional products.

Neil Gaiman and FourPlay String Quartet will be appearing at the Hamer Hall on 19 January. The location can be found at 100 St. Kilda Road, Melbourne, VIC 3004.

Tickets cost between $79 - $109, and the performance will begin at 7:30pm.
