Play to debut in Melbourne Southbank

A new dramatic work by Daniel Keene is coming to Melbourne Southbank for its debut in September.

The Lark is a one-woman play that is a powerful study of the passage of life, death and the change the passing of time brings to everyone.

The fictional work centres on a small inner-city pub in Melbourne, called The Lark. Gentrification of the area has led to the closing and ultimate demolition of the pub and the current landlady, Rose Grey, is having to say goodbye to the only home she has ever known. Previously taking over from her landlord father as he got older, she worries that she might be trapped in the past and is desperate to break free and make a new future.

Noni Hazlehurst elicits a powerful performance as Rose Grey, under the direction of Matt Scholten. Hazlehurst is no stranger to the stage and screen, having been active since the 1970s. She has garnered many awards, including ARIA Awards, Logies and Australian Film Institute Awards.

Advertising for drama productions often utilises local Print shops to produce Posters and Banners for display in the community.

The Lark is on stage from 3rd until 20th September, from 6.30 until 8.30pm, with matinees on Wednesday 3rd and Sunday 7th. Tickets cost from $65. The venue is the Fairfax Studio, 100 St. Kilda Road, Southbank.
