National Print Awards to be held in Melbourne in 2012

The Paladium at Crown 21 in Melbourne has been selected as the venue for this year’s National Print Awards. The awards night, Friday, 20 April 2012, will recognise the best of Australian print companies in various fields of endeavour.

The winners of the Victorian 2011 Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) awards, which were held in November at Sofitel Melbourne will automatically qualify for a nomination in the National Awards.

The official website still shows details of last year’s event, but it does explain more about the awards.

“… (The) National Print Awards are the premier print excellence awards in Australia and the culmination of a competition which has drawn together the work of Australia’s stellar print service providers.”

If the 29th National Print Awards are run similarly to last year then the awards are due to be decided in February 2012. At the dinner in April awards will be given for Bronze, Silver and Gold achievements, no details about this year’s theme has been announced.

From the automatic PICA awards entries, some of the Victorian entrants include:

- Courtney Colour Graphics’ one, two and three colour printing on ‘Journeys of Melbourne's Coffee Pioneers’ by Sandra Makris.
- Eastern Press leaflets, or brochure printers for ‘HSV’.
- GEON group for ‘The Ultimate Cinema Experience’ presentation folders.
- Adams Print for ‘Richard Green 2011 Calendar’.
- Eastern Press stationery printing for Melbourne Football Club.
- Eastern Press for limited editions or art reproductions for AMES.
- Blue Star Printing for Macmillan Art Publishers.
