What's Happening in Southbank, VIC…

Melbourne Southbank to host Shakespeare-inspired performance

In April, Pamela Rabe, an Australian actor, will be interpreting multiple heroines from William Shakespeare’s works in a program run by Johannes Fritzsch.

Rabe is experienced in film, television and stage work, and she has performed alongside notable actors and directors. During the event, which will be a performance of Melody Eotvos’ Ruler of the Hive, she will be portraying various female characters from Shakespeare’s pieces, which include Othello’s Emilia, Much Ado About Nothing’s Beatrice and As You Like It’s Rosalind.

Eotvos will be facilitating the narration and orchestra for the performance. She is a composer of Australian background, whose works have featured both locally, in the UK and the USA. Fritzsch, of German background and with over 40 years of experience, will be the lead conductor for the event, and he will present pieces from the Berlioz and Verdi operas, which are both inspired by Shakespeare.

Social and political issues from the Renaissance era to modern day that have played an influential role on women, as well as Shakespeare’s own relationship with females, will be inspected in the Ruler of the Hive. Such theatre performances can benefit from brochure printing that provide information about the event to prospective attendees.

Ruler of the Hive will be performed on the 24th of April at 11.30am in Hamer Hall, which is located in Melbourne Southbank. It will run for approximately 60 minutes, with no breaks in between.
