Melbourne Southbank to host photography workshop

Photography enthusiasts have an opportunity to improve their skills in a specialised workshop being hosted in April in Melbourne’s Southbank.

The Magic of Night is an evening workshop that focuses on cityscape photography. The three-hour session is hosted by Nikon School Australia and lecturers Josh Beames and Sarah Hatton will teach attendees how to bring Melbourne’s skyline to life. Participants will explore the Yarra River, finding inspiration from the numerous reflections created by the cityscape.

The workshop aims to teach participants techniques such as choosing compositions, harnessing light and attaining exposure for longer to achieve crisper night images. Other topics include shutter and aperture priorities, creating emotion and mood in photography, working around crowds, telling a story and how to work with what is available.

Participants are to supply their own DSLR or Mirrorless camera, spare memory cards, fully charged battery including a spare, tripod, camera instruction manual and any lenses they may wish to try. Comfortable shoes, water and warm clothes are also recommended.

The workshop is open to those from entry level right through to intermediate level and both DSLR and Mirrorless photographers will benefit from this specialised session. Photographers are able to utilise print shops to create beautiful renditions of their work.

The Magic of Night workshop convenes in front of the Crown Casino near the food court on Wednesday 29th April at 6pm. Tickets and further information is available on the Eventbrite website.

This workshop was still to take place at the time of writing.
