Melbourne Southbank to host daughter of a singing icon

The daughter of Nina Simone will be gracing the stage in Melbourne Southbank in July. This is a concert that will appeal to fans of the late Simone, but equally those who are willing to embrace a talent that stands firmly on her own energy and performance.

Dame Lisa Simone will be reprising the songs of her mother, Dr Nina Simone. Having starred both on and off Broadway (in shows such as Rent, The Lion King and Aida), and released successful albums, and with nominations as a Grammy jazz vocalist, Lisa Simone is no stranger to the celebratory quality and empowerment of music.

Lisa Simone has appeared across the world, in concerts, festivals and on television shows, and has steadfastly forged her own path, much like her mother before her.

The musical playlist will include classics made legendary by her mother, including I Put A Spell on You, Black is the Colour and Feelin’ Good. The concert is said to be a fitting tribute to the late Nina Simone, with the style and flair for which Dame Lisa Simone has come to be known.

Popular musical events are often advertised within the community by poster printing.

Lisa Simone: A Daughter’s Tribute to Nina Simone is taking place on Sunday, 13 July at 4pm. The venue will be Hamer Hall. Tickets cost from $99.90.
