The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) will be performing a live concert to Disney’s animated film, Fantasia, next month.
Fantasia was released in 1940 and received great acclaim for combining classical music with animation. The music for the film was conducted by Leopold Stokowski from the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the music was recorded using stereophonic sound.
The conductor of the concert will be Benjamin Northey from MSO. The orchestra will perform Bach’s Toccata and Fugue, Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite, Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, and Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain.
MSO is known for performing live concerts to popular films, such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Banner printing is a great way to promote such events to the public to grab their attention.
The performance will be held at Hamer Hall, which is located within the Arts Centre on 100 St Kilda Road in Melbourne Southbank. Those arriving via public transport can catch a train to Flinders Street Station or get off at the Arts Centre tram stop. Those travelling by car can access the 24-hour car parking located on 4 Sturt Street.
There will be two performances – Friday, 18th June at 7.30pm and Saturday, 19th June at 1pm, with the running time being 120 minutes, including a 20-minute interval. Tickets range from $60 to $129. All children below 15 years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult.
