Melbourne Music Week returning next month
Music lovers from Melbourne will be spoilt for choice next month with more than 100 events taking place as part of Melbourne Music Week.
Now in its sixth year, the festival brings live music to the city and also includes film screenings, workshops, and exhibitions.
This year, the main venue will be the disused basement of the former Royal Women’s Hospital in Carlton, which will be turned into a space for secret performances during the weeklong festival.
Artists due to play include The Harpoons and Gypsy and the Cat, as well as German band Monolake and Canadian group Cobblestone Jazz.
Melbourne residents should look out for poster printing advertising the details of each gig as the festival progresses.
Organisers are also planning other events, including food trucks and afternoon DJs. The whole family will be able to enjoy the fun on Sunday, November 15, with the Club Kids party featuring DJ Samson on the decks throughout the afternoon. Melbourne DJ Eleanor Butt will also be on hand during the morning to give lessons to budding disc spinners.
Other events include the live music safari at 14 venues around the city, and a collaboration between event organisers and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image.
