The literary culture of Melbourne, Victoria will be on the minds of 22 recipients of a special Travel Fund granted by the Melbourne City Literature office.
Grants worth up to $3,000 are distributed as part of the Travel Fund to support literary sector workers such as librarians, publishers, editors and writers. The aim is to enhance their occupations through travel.
The grants were considered vital for anyone developing their skills and work in the fields, according to Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle.
Mayor Doyle said he was keen to read about the journeys of each recipient in the various literary areas, including Brochures, books and other publications.
Poet Emilie Zoey Baker is among the grant’s success stories and will be heading to London to work with the Applies and Snakes, a youth slam organisation.
Another Travel Fund recipient, Fayen d’Évie, who is an Arts Book Publisher, is off to the USA where a mentorship awaits under the tutelage of Dr. Georgina Kleege.
Spain is the destination of Lilit Thwaites, a translator who is seeking to source new translations.
City of Literature Office Director David Ryding was delighted with the literary sector of Melbourne’s response to the Travel Fund and said the representation for a place in the 22 places was of a high standard.
