Learn about latest innovations during 2016 Knowledge Week
A week showcasing digital creativity, new technologies and raw collaboration is expected to result in new heights of innovation being reached during the 2016 Melbourne Knowledge Week.
Staged by the City of Melbourne, the week will include more than 60 events and organisers say comprehensive programme will give community members an opportunity to connect with innovative ideas and those who have come up with them.
Councillor Jackie Watts, who chairs the Knowledge City portfolio, said the event would be an eye-opener for all who attended as they will be able to discover why accountants, for example, work with coders while in the botanical gardens as well as learn how innovations such as augmented reality is altering neurosurgery.
She said scanning the programme would reveal a range of workshops from leaders in creative industries, education, engineering and technology along with mind-expanding discussions.
Cr Watts said other featured events including the BlackBOX exhibition in which inspiring innovations and inventions from the past few decades in Melbourne would be showcased. Local tech trendsetters will also host a series of networking sessions.
Events at this year Melbourne Knowledge Week, to be held from May 2 to 8, will include `60,000 Plus Years of Innovation’ at The Wheeler Centre from 6.15pm to 7.15pm on May 4, `Bitcoin and Beyond’ from 6pm to 8pm on May 4 at the Melbourne Business Centre and the Virtual Reality Lounge will be open at the MKW Festival Hub from May 2 to 6.
