Jazz greats set to draw crowds to Melbourne for major festival

Jazz enthusiasts from around the nation are packing their bags and heading for Melbourne, Victoria, for the annual Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

The event not only attracts big crowds of onlookers, but also the world’s cream of jazz performers.

The line-up for 2014 involves over 100 events and features more than 300 artists from New Zealand, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Israel, Italy, UK, USA and Australia.

Renowned as the nation’s largest jazz event, the 10 day festival provides a host of entertainment options to fans. Venues across Melbourne host a huge variety of shows, including film screenings, club gigs, and shows aimed specifically at families and children. The festival also stages a late night art party, plus sound walks and artist talks. In addition, this year will introduce a new series in Footscray called Jazz Out West.

Live performances are always a highlight, with this year’s international line-up featuring the unique talents of jazz greats such as Charles Lloyd Sky Trio (USA) at the Melbourne Recital Centre on May 30th; Davi sings Sinatra at the palais Theatre on June 7th; and the Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Arts Centre Melbourne on May 30th.

Flyer printing of events being held from May 30th to June 8th will keep locals aware of where their favourite jazz performers will be appearing.
