A star-studded lineup of tennis greats will combine with an amazing list of top music performers from around Australia when the 2016 Australian Open is held in Melbourne, Victoria in a month’s time.
The year’s first Grand Slam tennis event has built up an enviable reputation for not only the action on the court, but also the calibre of performances by members of the entertainment industry who are enlisted to entertain the crowds between matches.
Promotional brochures will feature the likes of British India, whose indie rock music will be the entertainment highlight on women’s final day.
Grand Slam Oval’s Heineken Live Stage will be rocked on Australia Day by The Rubens, who will make a welcome return along with the Pierce Brothers.
During the first week of the tournament, tennis and music fans will be treated to performances by ARIA award winner Dan Sultan, Jackie Onassis, Katie Noonan’s Vanguard, and 9-piece soul group Saskwatch.
Heineken Saturday, which attracted more than 80,000 fans in 2015, will star the travelling dance party Hot Dub Time Machine, whose music spans the period from 1954 to the present day.
