Grand inspiration on offer for Melbourne homeowners

The popular television show Grand Designs has followed hundreds of would-be builders and designers as they take on huge renovation or building projects with varying degrees of success. Now Melbourne residents have the chance to get expert advice for their own home improvement adventures at the Grand Designs Live show.

The event has a mix of celebrity speakers, expert talks and trade stands offering the latest in trends, products and technology. Grand Designs host Kevin McCloud will be among the household names on stage and will be joined by architect Peter Maddison, who presents the Australian Grand Designs series.

The show has five main sections - kitchen, bathroom, building, interiors and outdoors - and each one has a seminar programme with topics including sustainable building and decorating for children. There will also be a huge range of exhibitors showcasing their latest products.

Many exhibitors offer show-only specials but with so much to choose from, Melbourne homeowners might like to take advantage of catalogue printing so they can make a decision later on.

A number of experts will also be offering free consultations to help with all aspects of the design and build process, from financing a project and finding an architect to picking the right materials.

Grand Designs Live will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre. The show will be open from 10:00am until 6:00pm on Friday October 25 and Saturday October 26, and from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday October 27. To book tickets, visit the Grand Designs Live website.
