A total of more than 50 events will be held as part of the Knowledge Week 2015 festival in Melbourne, Victoria.
The multi-format event provides an annual meeting place for industry professional, tech-heads, entrepreneurs and like-minded thinkers and is dedicated to innovations, ideas and the latest trends of Melbourne’s knowledge sector.
Councillor Dr. Jackie Watts, who chairs the Knowledge City portfolio, said the impressive list of events will highlight the knowledge and innovative thinking industries that contribute to the prosperity of Melbourne.
She said the festival provided an opportunity to help create a more resilient and smarter city, explore research labs, discover tomorrow’s technology, and share ideas.
Watts described the festival schedule as a “cutting-edge” programme that illustrated the proactive approach by Council to promote and support the growth of the new economy and Melbourne City’s innovative knowledge sector.
Highlights of the extensive programme of events for the festival to be held from October 19 to 25 include the Endeavour Engineering and IT Exhibition at the University of Melbourne, Melbourne Datathon at The Arena in Docklands, and a talk and technical demonstration on The Future of Virtual Reality, which the organisers believe is set to provide the next major revolution in computing.
Catalogue printing featuring the schedule also includes a slide night on the topic of Wearable Technology at the Arena Theatre Company in North Melbourne which will also include guest speakers.
