Fans of contemporary singer-songwriters in the Melbourne Southbank area may be keen to purchase tickets to see captivating Danish phenomenon Agnes Obel when she comes to Melbourne in October.
Although relatively new to the music business, Obel’s first album ‘Philharmonics’ won a clutch of accolades and awards at the Danish Music Awards in 2010. This achievement was followed by the equally critically acclaimed albums 'Aventine' and 'Citizen of Glass', the support of which led to Obel touring and playing in the UK and United States.
Fresh from her latest one-woman project, her latest album, 'Myopia', was produced privately in her Berlin home studio. To support the album, Obel is touring extensively in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
Obel says that:
“For me, Myopia is an album about trust and doubt. Can you trust yourself or not? Can you trust your own judgements/ Can you trust that you will do the right thing? Can you trust your instincts and what you are feeling? Or are your feelings skewed?”
