Black Books star to entertain in Melbourne Southbank

Fans of high-voltage British comedy in the Melbourne Southbank area may well wish to buy tickets to see Dylan Moran in April. Comedy shows such as this often take advantage of poster printing methods in order to advertise within the community.

Moran is a BAFTA and Perrier award winner. Irish-born in 1971, Moran’s wealth of talents include abilities as a writer, actor, artist and poet, as well as a comedian. Known for observational comedy, he co-wrote and starred in Black Books, which was a sitcom set in a London bookshop. His character was Bernard Black, the irascible and melancholy bookshop owner. Black Books ran to three series, from 2001 to 2004. Soon achieving cult status, Black Books won two BAFTAs in 2001 and 2005 for Best Situation Comedy.

Moran’s current show is a reflection of frustrations that have built up over the pandemic. His comedy has been described as cynical and uncompromising – he does not court controversy, but neither does he need broad appeal. The Times (UK) writes of Moran:

“In his heightened ideas and vocabulary, Moran compulsively swerves cliches as he builds up layers of laugh…funny and fascinating, and utterly deserving of his place in the modern classics.”

‘Dylan Moran: We Got This’ is appearing on Friday, April 21 until Sunday, April 23 at Hamer Hall, 100 St Kilda Road, Southbank VIC. Tickets cost from $89.90. The show will begin at 8pm.
