Culture lovers from Caulfield will have plenty to choose from this month with the Glen Eira Storytelling Festival being held at venues across the city.
The Festival celebrates storytelling in a number of different ways, including films, author talks, exhibitions, and theatre.
This year, it will also feature a live poetry slam competition for the first time, with entrants from across the city being invited to take part in the contest at Glen Eira Town Hall.
Other events include a celebration of 150 years of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, a talk with popular author and comedian Judith Lucy at the ABC studios in Elsternwick and screenings of work by renowned Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki.
Budding writers can also learn how to tell their personal stories in a creative way at a special workshop.
Caulfield residents should look out for poster printing advertising the events being held nearby, or can download a full programme from the Glen Eira City Council website.
Local events will be held at the town hall, Caulfield library, and the Monash University Museum of Art’s Caulfield campus.
The winners of the My Brother Jack awards, with categories for short stories, poetry, and photography, will also be announced during the festival.
The festival runs from today, June 11 to Sunday, June 28. Many events are free, but places may need to be booked in advance.
