Helen Catanchin, also known as Katankin, is a solo singer and writes her own music, which has a basis in hope, love and faith. She also plays guitar.
Katankin is said to have a distinctive voice and writes bold, memorable lyrics. Although initially trained as a jazz singer and thus a relatively new artist in the indie-folk genre, Katankin’s debut album, Said The Starling, still managed to earn a 2025 nomination for Folk Album of the Year at the Folk Alliance Australia Awards.
Those attending the live session at the gallery this month are likely to hear popular songs such as On Your Knees, Bonfire, Stand Up Child and In A New Way. A reviewer from The International Americana Music Show said of Katankin:
“When you have a voice that shimmers as much as hers does, the attention it has brought her is inevitable.”
Promotional Products such as T-Shirts, tote Bags and baseball caps are often available to buy at venues where live music is performed.
