Interactive fashion installation for children to take place in Caulfield

Youngsters in the Caulfield area who have an interest in vintage fashion, both the wearing and creating of, can take part in an interactive installation that celebrates the 1970s.

The event involves creative workshops and gives youngsters the opportunity to dress up in the provided vintage-style clothing of the era. Popular fashion of the time included tiered, maxi gypsy skirts, wide-leg flares, bell-bottoms, turtleneck tops, chunky platform shoes and knee-high boots. Gallery Two will also be decorated as a colourful space inspired by the 1970s.

Once in the gallery, there will be materials available so that participants can have a go at making a garment, using fabric scraps, recycled elements and drawing tools, allowing them to explore self-expression and creativity. As items are made, they will be added to the exhibition so that it is constantly evolving, allowing those involved to celebrate community, creativity and identity in a dynamic manner. This also means that those in attendance might be keen to visit on more than one occasion in order to witness the evolution.

Those organising events that are children-oriented might use local printing services to produce colourful advertising for maximum appeal.

An Interactive Children’s Fashion Installation is taking place from 4th November until 20th December at the Gallery Two, Glen Eira City Council Gallery, corner of Glen Eira and Hawthorn Road.
