Those living in and around Caulfield can soon dip into the Glen Eira Story Telling Festival 2026 and listen to an acclaimed storyteller, writer and comedian who has collected a series of stories about meeting places across Australia.
For the last six years, Damian Callinan has travelled the length and breadth of the country, particularly playing in all sorts of isolated halls, especially in communities that have been impacted by disaster, in conjunction with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). Combining these events with Callinan’s play, The Hall Committee, led to the creation of the Hall Stories project, which celebrates the idiosyncrasies and quirks of meeting places across the land.
Tales on the afternoon will include the weird, significant traditions and strange rules of these stalwart buildings, with Callinan interspersing the Caulfield narrative with the personalities and history pertinent to Glen Eira Town Hall. This event will later on contribute to a podcast specific to the spirit and history of the hall.
The comedian is no stranger to touring and is also a podcaster and author.
Flyer printing is often the medium by which local community events are advertised and promoted.
Hall Stories with Damian Callinan is taking place on Sunday, 5 July, from 2 pm until 4 pm, in the Auditorium, Glen Eira Town Hall, Caulfield. The cost is $20 for an adult and $5 for a young person aged three to 17, to include light refreshments.
