New parkland proposed for Caulfield

Caulfield residents have just a week left to put forward their thoughts about a proposed new park.

Glen Eira City Council is considering making a new open space in Caulfield North by closing a little-used road.

The site is an unnamed route between Eskdale Road and Fitzgibbon Crescent, which the council says currently has very little traffic. Any changes could easily be accommodated by the surrounding roads and would not create traffic problems, and nearby residents would not be affected.

The park would offer more green space to Caulfield’s inhabitants for meeting friends or exercising. Initial plans include a central seating area near established trees, more paths leading from the surrounding roads, and planting, as well as an open grassed area for games or picnics.

If the plans were to go ahead, flyer printing or poster printing could be used to keep locals in touch with the developments.

The first stage of the consultation asks for views on the initial plan and the proposed road closure. More detailed ideas will be developed based on this feedback, possibly with further consultation undertaken.

Feedback can be given until Friday, April 17th. Comments can be made via the Glen Eira City Council’s online Have Your Say forum, or by email. Residents can also contact the Recreation Services department by telephone to discuss their thoughts.
