New five-star hotel opens at Chadstone

A new super-lux hotel has opened its doors to add yet another dimension to the upscale shopping experience at Chadstone, near Caulfield.

The development was completed at a cost of $130 million and represents a ‘first’ for Melbourne, with it being the only five-star hotel to be constructed outside the city’s CBD.

According to Marlene Kairouz, the Suburb Development Minister, the prestigious 250-room hotel is set to attract new visitors to Victoria as well as to drive investment and jobs in Melbourne’s inner south-east. She added:

“This is a $130 million vote of confidence in Melbourne and the inner south-east which will help further grow jobs and create opportunities for local people.”

The new hotel shares a site with the Chadstone Shopping Centre which, the Minister says, attracts 24 million visitors annually, with half a million of those being from overseas. She adds that it is a key Melbourne attraction that brings together, business, tourism, entertainment, retail and now accommodation. New ventures and developments are often advertised through brochure printing services.

Kairouz said that during six decades of operation, Chadstone had undertaken a major transformation from a normal retail precinct into a destination offering a luxurious lifestyle. With an excess of $2 million in annual turnover, Chadstone Shopping Centre is now the fourth largest in the world in terms of sales.
