Young musicians from Caulfield and around Glen Eira are being encouraged to send their demo tapes to be considered to take part in a live concert next month.
'The Sounds of Glen Eira' is being run by the City of Glen Eira Council’s Youth Leadership Team and offers bands and soloists the chance to showcase their music to other young people in the region.
Performances from entrants can be electric or acoustic; however, at least one member from each entry for the chance to perform must live, study or work in Glen Eira.
From the applicants, eight acts will be chosen to perform at a show to be held at the Bentleigh McKinnon Youth Centre. The finalists will compete for the chance to be on stage at the 'Party in the Park - Under the Stars' concert next year. Other prizes include a two-day recording session at a local studio with the help of a trained sound engineer and gift vouchers.
Supporters attending the free concert where the finalists will perform could use banner printing to show which band or soloist is their favourite and boost their chances of winning.
Demos need to be submitted to the Youth Information Centre in Bentleigh by Friday August 21. For more information contact Glen Eira Youth Services. The concert will be held on Friday September 18.
