Ways to attract birds into local gardens will be the focus of a free community presentation to be held at Caulfield, Victoria.
A spokesman for organisers, Glen Eira City Council, said sightings at Caulfield Park had revealed in excess of 35 species of native birds in the area.
He said birdwatchers, with Catalogues of native birds that frequently visited parks and reserves in local areas, were encouraged to join other bird-loving residents to attend the presentations.
He added birds had become a part of the City’s lifestyle being photographed for inclusion on promotional items such as Postcards and Calendars.
The seminars, to be held on May 19, will provide information about popular local birds, as well as instructions on steps required to create habitats that would bring the colourful and friendly species into local gardens.
Presenters will include Youth Wildlife Ambassador for the Port Phillip Eco Centre Gio Fitzpatrick, and Ryan Young from Ryan Young Design Pty Ltd.
Among the topics for discussion will be ‘What to Plant to Attract Native Birds’, ‘How to Create a Habitat at Home’, ‘The Role of Nesting Boxes’, ‘The Science Behind our Feathered Neighbours’ and ‘Garden Design, Placement of Plants and Vegetative Materials’.
Attendees will also have a chance to take home a copy of Angus Stewart’s book ‘The Australian Native Garden: A Practical Guide’.
The event will be held at the Glen Eira Town Hall, Caulfield.Get a Free Quote for Boxes Get a Free Quote for Postcards Get a Free Quote for Calendars Get a Free Quote for Catalogues
