Coles supermarket, located in Elsternwick Village, near Caulfield has reopened for business following a major redevelopment.
The grand opening has been welcomed by locals who have been shopping at a Coles Express on Glen Huntly Road or taking a courtesy bus to other Coles’ stores in Brighton and Balaclava since the Elsternwick Village supermarket was closed in October 2017.
The Coles Express was opened especially to attend to local demand for staple groceries during the construction period. Shoppers residing in Caulfield, Gardenvale, Elwood, Ripponlea, Balaclava and Elsternwick were also offered free delivery. Major changes such as this are often advertised via flyer printing in the local area.
The Coles store’s closure and following demolition was to make way for a major new mixed-use development The Mark, which was to include the new Coles supermarket.
The mixed-use project was undertaken by Developer Moniton and appointed architects Rothelowman and i2C, together with builder Hacer. It included 173 residential units spread across three buildings, Liquorland, Coles Supermarket plus other ground-floor tenancies and a tri-level car park in the basement.
Shoppers at the new Coles supermarket will now enjoy innovations such as a more extensive range of international and kosher products as well as a section that focuses on fresh, market-style produce plus an in-store bakery and open-style counter for meat.
The new store is now open for business at 441-461 Glen Huntly Road in Elsternwick.
