Caulfield to benefit from upgraded community hub

Lord Reserve Pavilion is set to become a contemporary sports and recreation hub in Carnegie, and it will benefit residents of surrounding communities, including Caulfield.

The concept’s initial stages required the consolidation of the Lord Reserve and Koornang Park areas. This involved the demolition of two existing pavilions, providing an opportunity for the area to be reimagined and upgraded. The local government’s vision is deeply invested in keeping the area’s unique character alive.

The modernised sports complex will provide a venue for local sporting clubs and will help motivate the community to reengage in sport and recreational activities. The facility features an environmentally sustainable design with upgraded amenities, including six multipurpose change areas, unisex bathrooms and a redeveloped social space that will feature a viewing window.

Glen Eira city council has contributed $3.06 million to the development, with the state government contributing a further $1 million towards the project. Additional characteristics of the new grounds include picnic facilities, a shelter and the retention of significant vegetation in the area.

Major redevelopment projects of sporting hubs such as this often attract attention from local businesses seeking to sponsor community teams, which can then gain recognition through team representation, prizes and the distribution of Corporate Gifts.

With construction already underway, the development of the Lord Reserve Pavilion is due for completion by mid-2022.
