The popular Memorial Park in Caulfield North is to be upgraded as part of the Glen Eira City Council’s Open Space strategy and will get new facilities and plants as part of its redesign.
The improved park will see changes to the Kooyong Road side with new grass areas and a better connection to the remainder of the park. Along the Dorgan Street side, there will be changes to the pathway to improve accessibility and new plants will be put in. The existing Washingtonia palm trees will also be moved to increase shaded areas.
The playground will be expanded to allow more equipment to be added in the future to suit a wide range of local children. A new memorial wall is also set to be built to house the plaques which commemorates members of the armed forces from the area
Printing services have been used to create an information leaflet to show local residents what the park will look like when the upgrade has finished. The flyer includes a map of the proposed new layout and computer generated images of the new planting.
The council’s Open Space strategy, which was approved by councillors in April, includes plans for the upkeep of the area’s green spaces up to 2026.
More information about the improvements and the strategy can also be found on the Glen Eira City Council website.
