Comedian and author Luke Ryan will be the speaker at a Glen Eira libraries event next month.
Ryan’s first book, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Chemo, was released earlier this year and details his fight against cancer at the age of 22.
The memoir also reveals that this is the second time Ryan has battled the disease, after also surviving cancer as an 11-year-old boy.
First developed as a stand-up comedy show that sold out at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Chemo has now been turned into a memoir that Ryan hopes will inspire others to see the positive even in bad situations and make them laugh while learning more about a serious subject.
Keeping a journal or writing a memoir can be a great way of dealing with a life-changing event such as a serious illness, and anyone who wanted to create a copy of their writing – either for themselves or for others to read – could ask a Print company to create a bound copy of the work.
The talk takes place on Wednesday, November 12th from 7pm to 8pm at the Glen Eira Town Hall in Caulfield.
The event is free, but bookings must be made beforehand. Bookings can be made at any Glen Eira library, online, or by contacting the city council.Get a Free Quote for Print
