Residents of Caulfield and surrounding suburbs have ample opportunity to indulge in the arts between June and July as Glen Eira Council have curated a new exhibition for locals to enjoy.
Telling Tales is an exhibition that highlights storytelling and literary themes. It investigates the way artists engage and interpret narrative pieces through their creative practice of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, book sculptures and video.
The contemporary art works reference literature, with Books being the central element and a look at how everyday objects have narrative potential, thereby provoking thought and discussion about reading and knowledge.
Artists featured at this exhibition include Prudence Flint, Chris Bond, Nicholas Jones, Penelope Davis, Deborah Walker, Victoria Reichelt and others.
Telling Tales offers more than just a gallery experience as there will also be floor talks by some of the artists. Prudence Flint will share her works on display and discuss her artistic practices while Deborah Walker will discuss the themes she has investigated in her creations.
For attendees who wish to create, there is an opportunity to create their own book sculpture with Nicholas Jones at an afternoon workshop. An artist and educator, Nicholas takes old books and re-invigorates the pages and texts to create new and unique artworks. He explores the themes of recycling, literature and storytelling in his works. Bookings are essential for this workshop.
Galleries may advertise their upcoming exhibitions through poster printing and flyer printing.
Telling Tales runs from 12 June to the 19 July at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery. Further details and bookings can be made on their website.Get a Free Quote for Books
